This is the Arizona 911 Memorial. It has been designed to act like a clock.
When the sun reaches the piece of Ground Zero steel that sits on a stone inside,
the inscriptions written on the bottom of it shine through.

This is the stone alter in the center that contains the names of those who were on the commission
that made this memorial. Just behind this lies the piece of sacred steel given to the commission
by a New York FDNY Firefighter who went back to Ground Zero to help with the recovery work.

On September 11, 2006, the Arizona 911 Memorial in
Phoenix was dedicated by Governor Napolitano...

And the head of the AZ 911 Commission, Billy Shields.
This marks the 5th Anniversary of the attacks on America!

The ceremony was well attended and many came by to
pay their respects to those who have lost their lives that
perilous day. 347 on-duty and retired Firefighters Lost
their lives that day, including other volunteer firefighters
who ran to the building to save others and gave their
lives. All put their lives on the line that day. No Greater
Love than to give yourself for another, especially one
you do not know.
